HELLO, I’m SUZETTE
I am a neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) trained coach and empathetic professional who has worked within public health and social care sectors and am now bringing that compassion and dedication to my work with horses and their human partners.
Having gained a BSc (Hons) Equine Behavioural Science after 4 years of additional study and practical application has enhanced the knowledge and experience gained through my lifelong ownership and association with horses.
I am passionate about sharing what I wish I had known years ago!
During my formative years I was blessed to have an ex-military horseman as one of my mentors. One piece of wisdom that he imparted has stayed with me for life. He was teaching me to jump a hedge. I was about 14 at the time and thought this hedge looked like a puissance wall! My wonderful and honest Irish gelding Winston kept running out as we approached it. Mr Munnings told me to “throw my heart over first” or admit to myself that my fears were bigger than the obstacle I faced.
That took my focus away from my fearful thoughts as I puzzled over what he meant. I considered the hedge, the landing spot and the many obstacles that my wonderful horse and I had ‘popped over’ for fun. I knew the hedge was easily within our scope and that Winston would jump it if I was committed and relaxed… which we then did, with ease and much fun!
This statement said without judgement, and the lesson I learned about myself and my fears, has served me my whole life and gave me the confidence to start the journey to becoming an Equine Behaviour Coach.
